Rehabilitation Counseling is a profession experiencing significant growth. It is estimated that 54 million Americans have a disability which prevents them from achieving personal or vocational independence. Every year nearly one million people with disability are helped to become working, productive, independent members of society. Many more professional rehabilitation counselors are needed to meet this huge demand for rehabilitation counseling services. Rehabilitation Counselors enjoy increasing opportunities for employment in a wide variety of settings, including hospitals, mental health facilities, substance abuse treatment centers, geriatric agencies and facilities serving older adults, correctional facilities, rehabilitation centers, public vocational rehabilitation programs, and private rehabilitation.
